I have a friend whose H1 expires in dec 2004. He is considering an offer from a fortune 500 company. The company is going to file a petition for H1B. If the company does file for a LC(for green card) immediately after joining, will be eligible for a 7th year extension?

Gurus, please post your thoughts on this. I really appreciate it.

No he will not be able for extension. For extension - LC has to be pending for 365 days.
