Question for Experts: Name Check Done but not in System - Help!

I finally got the fax from the FBI last week stating that my name check had been completed and that "USCIS was notified" - this was about 1,000 days after I filed my I-485.

It's been over a week since I got the Fax. My local senator's aide has been in contact with local BCIS and they say the name check approval is still not in the system. Today they told him that before the results can be released, local INS needs to send a code of some sort to the FBI!

I urgently need the stamp in the passport ASAP and am fed-up with all the delays and excuses. (The FBI say that they got the request for the name check in Dec. 2002 - even though I filed in Oct. 2001!)


Does anyone know how long it typically takes for the name check results to show up in the INS database? Also what on earth is this "code" thing?

Does anyone have a good phone number for the FBI records management division - preferably in data input. (Not Gertie Goldsmith who doesn't have a clue what anyone else in the division is doing.)

Update

The local Salt Lake City INS now says that the name check is not technically completed and that the computer shows that the FBI will shortly request additional information from SLC.

Why the **** can't these people get their act together!! After waitng over 1000 days the FBI tells me the "record check was completed" and now the INS says it's not?

Has anyone outh there had similiar experiences where they get the name check completion from the FBI but the local INS says more checks are required?
