Hello,

I have recently seen an article on http://www.murthyindia.com/content/em_appt.html
stating that US consulate in Chennai will grant emergency visa appointments to returning H1/L1 workers.

I am currently on 8th year of H1 extension in US. I don't have a current H1 stamp in passport and I am far from getting AP. I am wondering if the emergency visa stamping procedure is the same in New Delhi embassy. I don't need to travel right now but it will be good to know that emergency travel is not going to get me stuck in India for over 4 months!

If an attorney can clarify this it will be really helpful.

Thanks

When you take an appointment and mention that you are currently working here and need to get back to the job, then they will give you the appointment the same month you want it. The online process guides you through all the steps and allows you to opt for emergency appmt.

Hi rjo1,
can you please calrify if the emergency aappmnt that you mention in you post, is it applicable for Chennai too or is it for Delhi alone??

Thanks

From OCT 1st, ttsvisas which serviced Delhi, Chennai, Calcutta has its contract over.
Look at visa-services.com - the new service provider.

Emergency Appt should be available for all. You have to go through the process to reach that screen, which allows you to do that.
