I have got an RFE regrading name mismatch in my passpost/visa and 485 application. Thay have asked me to give explanation for this. So my question is , in what format should i explain? any idea? (is it in letter format or question & answer format or any other way?)
I have already asked my attorney. But i haven't got a reply yet. So please share your thoughts

why do you have a name mismatch? do you have the mismatich in the passport and visa or between the application and ID documents?

If it's name shortening/expanding issue, then writing a letter should be good enough. But if it's a misspelling or totally wrong name, then you need to amend I-485 forms.

Your name as shown in your passport and visa does not match exactly the name you have used on your application. Please expain.

Actually, in India, they expand the initials when we apply for passport . So the visa also has that name. when i came to US, I chose first name, middle name, last name format. that was the confusion. it is no big deal i know .I am sending the copies of Social Security card and my school certificates as more evidence. but i just wanted to know how to explain in detail? I am planning to prepare in letter format and i thought i will ask the gurus here.
