Question about visa application and VFS

My mother needs to apply for a visitor's visa in New Delhi. Can she drop off all the forms at the VFS location rather than going the online route? Also once all the forms/information has been dropped off, how does the visa interview get scheduled? Does she have to contact VFS again or is the interview date given on the spot (when she drops off the forms)?
Thanks for any help - the whole VFS thing is a bit confusing and it does not help that the VFS web site seems to be down.
 
no the only way to get appointment now is to forst pay the fee at the designated HDFC branches, you need a copy of first page of passport for that.

Then you have to take appointment online, which you can do for her from here. The VFS people might help but it is the same system that they work off of, they just use their computer and sit with her to make the appoinment. since appointments are not easily available, you might want to take that job over to avoid her going there.

There are some trvel agents who can do this for her but are prone to mistakes and fudging stuff online.
