Question about unmarried GC holders

Hi Guys,

I\'ve heard that it becomes very difficult to get married outside the US and bring in a spouse once you become a permanent resident. I\'ve also heard something about the "K" visa but am not sure how it works.

Does anyone here have information about how to bring in your spouse after the green card?

Pease assume that no educational/professional background about the spouse-to-be is known. So one can\'t predict whether she will be able to get H1B/F1 visa types.

Any information/links/advice is welcome.

Question for JoeF

Joe:

What is the procedure to sponsor a spouse who can come to the US on an H-1 visa. Is it similar to filing I-485 and how long is the wait for the spouse to get the GC (assuming that he/she will be in the US on an H-1).

Your thoughts on this one is appreciated.

spouse on another visa

Joe,

1). What if the spouse has a 10yr B1 visa BEFORE marriage. Can I then marry her, apply for her GC and during the 5-6 yrs, she can come and go back on that B1.
2). Can she get F1 AFTER marriage? Then after her studies, can she stay till GC is done.
3). Can she get H1B AFTER marriage?

Please suggest a way that you think is best for a GC holder who is NOT married yet.

Thanks.
