Hello everyone,

I am planning to travel to Europe in mid December. I have GC and RTD. I just went to France embassy in SF and was told that it takes 15 days to issue visa which I thought it was not right. (I got my England visa in less than 4 days).

Here is my question:
Do you have any experience obtaining visa to France in SF office?

My company provide me a health insurace so I didn't buy any traveling insrance. Do I need to worry about that?

Also do they really take 15 days to issue the visa? is there another way for me to get this visa.

Please let me know.
Thanks

It took me about a week to get visa to Switzerland, about 10 days to Mexico and over 2 weeks to Czech Republic, so it really depends on the embassy.

The European consulates in the Bay Area usually takes them around 2 weeks for all their visa processing. I got the French and Italian visas with my RTD NO-GC in San Francisco in two different times and both took them around 10 days... I guess you just have to wait for the 2 weeks processing; it is the same for all non-US citizens that need visa for EU.

I would recommend you to buy a travel insurance online that fulfills their requirements (it is very cheap around 30 dollars for 15 days). The insurance from your work wont cover you in Europe. The EU consulates are very picky about it... they actually want to see the paper that says that you hae medical insurance in Europe for so much money...

If your main destination is France... get the visa in that consulate...
