Question about travel after AOS interview

My husband MAY have to travel outside of the US right after our AOS interview. My question is.... will the stamp in the passport be sufficent for that or does he have to wait to get his actual GC in hand?

I read that sometimes they don't stamp passports at the interview? After reading the interview thread, it seems like most get the stamp. If for some reason we don't get one, can we request it anyway so that he can travel right away?

You can request one, if you can show your travel plans (itinerary, bought tickets, hotel reservations, etc).

And, YES, the I-551 stamp on his passport will be sufficient for him to travel outside of the US and return.

PraetorianXI, your time line showed that EAD card has been ordered, do you still need it after that?
sorry but I really don't know what is the sequence of this in terms keep working and traveling, because I have to do both.
isn't it the EAD will be invalid after the "approved interview"?
and now do we get the passport stamped in the interview? how about the FBI name check?
I keep hearing all the new stuff .... and keep wondering :o

You do not need the EAD after you are approved for the green card (is not invalid it is just not needed if you can show the GC).

I am still waiting on receiving either one.
