It would be stronger if you could mention about the readership of a particular journal. For instance, if a society has 10000 members and the periodicals are sent to each member, then you can say use this argument as proof of wide circulation and readership of your articles instead of the number of downloads. If you could locate the exact citation of your work, in particular positive comments such as "pioneering work by so and so..", then this is probably the one of the best quantitative measures of the impact of your work.
