Question about SSN

Hi everybody!
I have a question about my SSN. I tried to change my last name on it yesterday, and a very nice lady told me I can't do it if I don't have work authorization yet. I just got married to a USC. So, will there be a problem with it when I file papers soon with my old SSN? I've changed my last name on my DL and registration, and I will change on all documents. What should I do with SSN? Please, advice me, I'll be very grateful!

They'll want to see evidence of work authorization before giving you an updated SS card. So wait until you get your employment authorization card, or wait for the green card itself, then go back to request an updated SS card. If you request the SS card after getting your green card, the new SS card will have the employment restriction removed.

Although there are one or two green-card related forms that ask for your SSN, you don't actually need to show your SS card (or a copy of it) for the green card process.

Thank you so much for your reply! Now you clarified the situation, as I was a little bit nervous yesterday! Thanks!
