Question about SS after GC stamp

Dear All,

I am new to this group and have a question regarding SS. The current SS card which was issued to me about 3 years back says "Not eligible to work". Now I got my GC a week ago with a stamp in the passport stating I am eligible to work. The question is: Should I go to SS office and get my card changed to reflect the change in working status, will they give me a new number or will they just change the condition on the existing number it self. Please let me know at the earliest, I am planning to start working very soon.

Take your stamped passport and go. They will update your status in their system and issue a new card (with the same number) with no restrictions on work.
