Question about retogression

Does the Oct 1 deadline imply that a previously filed I-485 will automatically date back to several years on Oct 1?..or will it processed in the normal time beginning from the date of filing?

I have a concurrently filed I-140/1-485 NIW case in April 2005. I got an RFE in June 2005 to which I have recently replied and I also have got the EAD and AP associated with the I-485.

What will happen in my case?

Your case will retrogress

Your case will retrogress even though it was applied before retrogression started. I have many friends who are in this limbo, and I myself am joining it by applying for 485 this month.

But applying now and being in pending status has many benefits compared to not being able to apply at all. For a comprehensive list, visit the FAQ on retrogression at www.immigration-law.com which is an immigration attorney's opinion and structured better than what we aspirants can.

i am not sure but i think 485 already filed are not affected by retrogression, they may be delayed in approval depending on visa availability.

but retrogression means that they wont accept applications at all, based on their estimate of backlog.

What do you mean they are not affected by retrogression ? I-485 which are already filed will be also affected by retrogression as they won't be touched by the USCIS until the retrogression date moved after the RD date of the I-485 which might take a very long time.
