Hi,
I'm in the process of applying for a J1 visa...on a previous trip i was denied entry to the US, I was travelling under Visas waiver program at the time and was told i needed to provide proof of significant foreign ties before being re-admitted, I ws subsequently was re-admitted about a week later and told then that i had to return to the UK (my own country) before attempting to come back but that i could enter until the end of my current VWP period.
my question is: it was never mentioned to me that a time frame existed, just that I needed to prove ties in my country. After reading about the 2 year penalty does that apply to me? and if so do i need to apply for a waiver of this before I can get J1 its been around 8 months since i was told that.
N.B I had a Canadian work visa at the time and was visting my Girlfriend in the US and seemingly i was crossing the border more than I should have been under the VWP.
