Question about processing time and reasonable expectation

Hi, this is my first post to the forum. I hope someone can help me answer my question about processing time.

My wife is on H1-B (last year, extension application in process) and I am on a G-4 visa. Our PERM application was filed in May (PD of May 14) under EB-2. I have been trying to look online to see how long it may take for the PERM to be approved, supposed that it is not audited. The information I find has been mixed. Here on this forum, some people (unaudited) have been waiting for almost a year while some website claims that it should take about three months. We also know of people who went through the entire GC process in about 1 year.

We are in no big rush to get the GC itself but I am truly tired of having a limited range of employment options while on the G-4 visa. I understand that once the PERM is approved, we can file the I-140 and I-485 concurrently. We are from Vietnam which is now current. At that time we can also file for my EAD and AP. So my question is, how long should I reasonably expect to wait before I get the EAD. I really can't wait for that day of freedom.

Thanks for any information you can provide.
