A few months back I posted on this group about a domestic violence incident, in which I was arrested and released on bail. First of all thank you all who replied and gave support in one of the darkest hour of my life.
Today the DA offered a deal if I take the Anger Management classes they will reduce the charges to Disturbing the peace on next court hearing, 6 months from now. Here is the text for the California penal code 415 which will apply for reduce charge.
415. Any of the following persons shall be punished by imprisonment
in the county jail for a period of not more than 90 days, a fine of
not more than four hundred dollars ($400), or both such imprisonment
and fine:
(1) Any person who unlawfully fights in a public place or
challenges another person in a public place to fight.
(2) Any person who maliciously and willfully disturbs another
person by loud and unreasonable noise.
(3) Any person who uses offensive words in a public place which
are inherently likely to provoke an immediate violent reaction.
According to my defense attorney I should be okay from immigration point of view. But still wanted to take the opinions/suggestion of other people on this board. Do you think it will have any affect on my immigration status ( currently I'm a permanent resident) ? Second, would it be wise to apply for naturalization once I become eligible sometime next year ?
Also any other steps should I take in this matter, like sealing the records ?
Thank you again,
