A friend of mine is going to work for an international law firm\'s london office. the firm was established in the u.s. and now its international executive office is in the united states. but its london office is fairly independent and my friend was recruited by the london office directly. due to local regulation, the london office is registered in london even though the firm has a unified international partnership.
my friend intends to file N-470 to preserve his permanent residence. but the question is whether the london office is counted as subsidiary of a u.s. firm? because the firm\'s international nature, it is doubtful that more than 50% of the partnership interests are held by american partners.
please help!!!
