So here is the situation. I am filing for N-400 based on 5 year residency statues. originally,I was married to US citizen but divorced.

here is my 1st question regarding to taxes. I have been full time housewife from 2007 to 2010. i didn't have any income.

but then, i found out, my ex husband FAILED to file taxes for 2009.

am i reponsible for that as well? (no one filed anything for 2009 ) i am thinking of filing for 2009 as married -filing seperate. but some people tell me not to and just leave it the way it is.

what would be the best idea for this?
if you were me, would you file MARRIED -seperate- for 2009 with the income of zero? or just leave it? again, i was housewife i don't have income.

Or say YES on ever filed taxes, and explain the situation. that i didn't have any income and myself, as an individual is not reponsible to file taxes.

which one would you do?

also, would IRS help me file taxes for 2009 as zero income? where can i get affordable help from? CPA is too expensive for this simple thing.

Secondly, DO I NEED ORIGINAL copy of divorce decree? i have one that is original COPY of decree. is that not enough?

do i absoluttly have to go to a county court to get the original certified copy? how much does it cost? i live tooo far away from wher eit originally filed , is there anyway i can just order it online or by the phone or just go to local courthouse?
