Hi folks,
I have sent the form requesting status information from selective registration.
I sent my i-20 and copy of h-1b visa. This is to ensure that it was ok for me not to register with selective registration.
Here is the situation:
My DOB 2/12/1969, Got my GC on 03/16/2000.
I was a student from 08/92-8/94, i-20 covers that, in fact my i-20 was valid till 08/95. For the remaining months till 12/95 which was 26th birthday, i was on h-1b visa. My first h-1b term was from 06/95-06/98. The company which gave me the h-1b is no longer in business.
The question i have is, if selective registration comes back to me to prove that i was indeed working for the company (which has been out of business), how would i handle the situation since i cannot get a letter from the company.

Also, it is possible to get a list of statuses i had till i got my GC, from the INS.

Any advice or help is really appreciated.

Don't worry.

You have your visas stamped in your passport. Send all the material you have including a photo of your passport. Attach a sheet explaining your story.

I have no doubt you will get the proper response from Selective service.

If, however, they tell you to provide more proof, then give them pay stubs, coworkers testimony, bank statements, etc.

Either way, you have nothing to loose by sending what you got now.

I am in the process of filling out my N-400 based on marriage to a USC. 3 years since GC now.
My question is I am enclosing copies of my passport and I do not have my wife's name endorsed on it. Will this be a problem for filing N-400 now or later during the Interview?

I think the Indian consulate website states that you have to apply for a new booklet to do so.

Please share if you have any experience with this?

Thanks

Such an endorsment does not exist in most of the world's countries. I wouldn't worry, especially if you can easily demnonstrate the authenticity of your marriage via other means.

Thanks yalag.

Also, I am providing a friend's address as the mailing address since I might move apartments in the same DO though. (My home address will be my current home addr) If need be and if the process takes more than a year, Is it possible to call USCIS and give them a change of mailing address in addition to change in address?

Thanks

After filing N400, if there is a change in job situation or if you are laid off, does that affect during time of interview/oath??

Regards

You will have a chance to update your information at the time of the interview. Do you think that your citizenship is going to be denied because of the fact that you have changed jobs?

I was more concerned about a lay off and being without a job at time of Interview.

So what???!!!??? Is it illegal to be out of work? What is your thought process?
