Question about Marriage-based Green Cards

Hi, I'm planning to apply for a marriage-based green card, and I've got a question about that: I'm going to marry a green card holder who is in the process of applying for US citizenship. I'm just wondering if there's any difference between the two cases: applying through a citizen or through a permanent resident? Basically, do they cost about the same time? I guess this would determine whether I'd delay my GC application until after she gets the citizenship. Thank you.

Your application for GC through a GC holder would take years before your priority date is current... through a USC your priority date is current immediately.
