question about interim EAD

Spouse applied EAD on Dec 1, 2004. however it is still not approved yet, Current EAD will expire in May 2005. Sent the 2nd inquiry since Feb 05, No updates yet. Going to apply interim EAD from local office. and I just made an infopass appointment.

can any one tell me how long will be interim EAD valid for, several months or 1 year? What about the renewed EAD? Will it still be approved later?
 
I went through the same process last year, I went for the interim EAD and they gave me an EAD for 8 months. but my application for the EAD was rejected as an interim EAD was issued to me.
