question about filing I-140 before graduation

I am currently a Ph.D student holding F1 visa. I 'd like to file I-140 for NIW, would it affect my OPT application next year?

It might. Dual intent on F1 is not allowed, although I know people who have done it. I would not file an NIW without graduating, but that is just me. Check out the EB-1/NIW forum and post your credentials for evaluation.
