Question about filing EAD extenstion by myself

Hi,

My EAD is about to be expired and I am trying ti file it by myself. I have 2 questions below. Appreciate the answers from you, experinced experts.

1. For the question 15 on I-765 form, "Current Immigrition Status", what should I put? My 485 is pending. I am working with my current EAD.

2. SHould I include a cover letter in the application?
