Question about expired passport/valid PR

Hi,

I have two questions and would appreciate any answers/suggestions/advice.
I am planning to travel to Canada within a few days. I recently got my Canadian PR card. My passport has expired. I want to know if I will need to show my passport while entering Canada from the US or would just the Canadian PR card suffice. If that is the case, then I can get my passport renewed in Canada. If carrying a valid passport is mandatory, then I will have to delay my trip and apply for a renewal in the US, which takes many days to come.
Also, my wife has not received her PR card yet (2 months after applying) because they messed up in taking the Canadian address that we had provided them. She should get her PR within a few weeks now. Now the question is ...Can she travel to Canada with me or will they not allow her to enter since she just has the landing doc. and not the actual PR.

Thanks for your time.

Vault, Ray, your input will be really appreciated.

Thanks.

I am not sure of your citizenship. Normally Indian consulates have issued passports the same day or the next. You should always have a valid passport with you when you cross borders.
