Hi all,

I am filling out my I485 now, there's a question asking
what's the last entry to US, and on what visa.
I first entered US on 2000 as F1 student, then I worked
after graduation and changed the visa to H1. This spring
I went to Montreal, Canada and got a H1 visa stamp on
my passport, and returned US. On the border they didnt
do anything on my passport, no changing I94 or write
any date on visa.
I just wonder what's my last enterance to US, the 2000
one or 2002 one. Since my I94 is still the one given in
2000, should I use that?
My lawyer is confused too, that's partially the reason
you should choose a good and Knowledgable lawyer.
This guy just made mistakes on my forms and I have
to review one bye one, really tedious.

Thanks for the answer.

Date of entry from Canada

I had a similar situation. I went to Canada and there was no new stamping in my passport nor was there a new I-94.

On my I-485 application I put the date I entered from Canada even though the date on the I-94 was different since this IS the date of last entry into the US.

same here. Went to canada before filing for I-485, and when we entered US, at the borders our visa was seen and they didn't stamp and give us new I-94, our lawyer told us to write the date and place from where we entered. In our case, it was Champlain, Newyork.Make sure that the place from you entered is correct and had INS border office, don't write whatever name entered your mind.
Be truthful in answering all your questions, our lawyer literally spoonfed us.

I-94

Your most current I-94 will be the one that is part of your H-1 approval notice.

That is the one that you will have to give the airlines folks when you travel outside of the U.S.

Upon returning, you will fill out the new I-94.
