question about employment while 485 pending

Hello everyone, my I485 was concurrently filed with I140 in 06/2004. NIW I140 was approved in 08/2005 and I485 is still pending. My question is: do I need to maintain an active employment status while I485 pending? What happens if I quit working? How will that affect my pending I485 case? Will it be terminated? Also, how will it affect my spouse's I485 which was filed along with mine?

Your input is greatly appreciated!

You can quit working temporarily or change jobs, but in order to prove that you are of Natl interest, you have to work in your NIW area because INS may wish to check it, like you may receive RFE asking employment letter, or they may ask during interview. Of course, it may happen that they just approve you, without looking at it....

Re: question about employment with pending I485

Thank you Compass for your previous answer.

I have another question that you may help with as well: suppose if I do quit (I am sponsored by my employer on H1 visa, even though I do have EAD work permit), will my empoyer inform the USINS about the employment termination from me? I am afraid that will trigger a RFE or something like that when they noticed the termination of H1 sponsorship while processing my I485 case. Is that a real concern?

Thanks a lot!
