One of my friends got laid off and has an RD in October. However, he was offered a contracting position by a company in another state. So he has a job in hand however he will be working on an hourly basis and not full time basis.
He is wondering whether he should take the job or continue his search for a full time position.
Is it important for the job that you are on to be permanent during an interview call?? Or the fact htat you are getting a steady pay check even if you are on an hourly basis, enough?? The lenght of the contract is 4 months.
Can any of you guyz help me answer his questions?? His lawyer is basically useless in the matter.

i work hourly now and also in my previous job. I am planning to ask for a annual salary put in my employment letter with no word about "temporary", in case i get a RFE.
That's how my previous employer did.

That was my suggestion

It was my suggestion also however, incase of an interview call they might ask a few probing questiosn and you don't want to be caught giving misleading answers at that time.
His case is very complicated. He changed jobs before his 180 day period expired and then filed AOS while at his new job.
And now he got laid off at this company and found a contracting position. Under the enw rule if you get laid off your H1B is immediately revoked. So INS should know about that.
So he is definately going to get an interview call. With time running short he is in a bit of a fix.

shld be fine..

INS just wants to make sure you are working and not a burden to the government. The primary applicant cannot take up a part time job as the main job. He is supposed to put atleast 40 hrs a week. As long as your friend does that, he should be fine.
I will definitely let you know abt my case.
