Question about EAD

Guys,
I am on H1 now still have an year to work on H1 to finish 6 years in US on ,applied for I-485 but not for EAD. My problem is my company is going to lay off, If I apply for EAD now can I work in some other company without H1? I can request my old employer to continue my GC.
Plese help me guys...

Yes, you can work for another employer on EAD. Check with your attorney and he/she will be able to help you.
