question about divorce

a frend of mine and his wife are greencard holders and their son is a US citizen. They want a divorce and not sure which country's divorce law applies to them. Either the US or their home country. Their marriage is registered in their home country. Appreciate any input.

divorce status is acknowledged in a different country
than the one where divorce is made, But I think if they
live in the USA, they better file divorce in a US court
because only a US court can enforce orders regrading
child custody and child support, alimony, assets distribution,
etc. asumming they want their divorce agreement
to be binding by law.
