Question about clearing custom, would you get held at custom twice for the same reason?

So when you enter custom they'll take your fingerprints. I have a skin condition and some of my fingerprints are not recognized by the machines. Last summer I traveled overseas and was held at custom on my way back to the U.S. for over an hour. We're planning to travel overseas again next month but my hands' condition hasn't improve at all since. I'm wondering if I'll be hold at custom again for the same reason or will they have that on file so they will let me go without questioning again? many thanks
 
Some people are held for the same reason over and over.

There are special creams you can rub on your hands for several days to improve the readability of your fingerprints; you could try that.
