If someone has recently done their Bio, what does it exactly means in USCIS terms? and what is it used for?

Biometrics

I haven't done Biometrics yet but I know that it is a new technology where they can stroe your FP electronically.FPs used to expire after every 13 months or so. It also takes you digital picture and stores your facial features digitally like, the distance between your eyes and the length of your nose etc.

hi

Thank You! But what is it used for? background check? FBI? Trigers green Card printing etc?

Yes

Noman74,
From what I know, part of the USCIS plan to share info with other agency, I think your Biometrics will be one of that important info to be shared with other Govt. agencies like airport security, ICE and CBP. In the past, USCIS would call you to collect your FP before making decision on any of your important applications like EAD, I-485 and N-400. Now with Biometrics they'll have this information digitally stored which can be sent to FBI for your back ground check and/or name check. Also, when your I-485 is approved, Biometrics triggers your GC production if all goes well with your FBI check.
Hope this answers your questions.

The biometrics thats USCIS takes is stored on your GC. Your fingerprint scan is actually on the GC and in the future when you enter the U.S, a reader will read your fingerscan to match whats on your GC.

U.S Passports will also move to this technology in the future making it faster for USCIS to process U.S Citizens/PR's at airports and there has been news that an "Automated inspection portal" will be setup for U.S Residents where you would go to a checkout counter like the supermarket and scan your passport/GC and match your FP with the passport/GC and let you go...Without any officers interaction..So USCIS is planning for the future.
