question about affidavit of support.

filing the adjustment of status with a lawyer and I have a question.

My parents will be the sponsors because i do not qualify on income standards because student loans are not considered income.

The attorney said both parents have to appear in person to the filing of the application for the affidavit for being sponsors, ie 485 etc.

My parents are 1,000 miles away. Is this accurate? Can they not notarize and provide copies of the tax returns?

Your parents need to sign the affidavit .... tell them to fill it and sign it .... why are you paying a lawyer ?
