All,
I have been living in Dallas from the past 10 years and I am eligible to apply for my citizenship on June 28, 2006 (date on Green card is Sep. 25 2001).
My question is with regard to the residency requirement. If I plan on applying to the Dallas INS center do I have to be in Dallas 3 months prior to applying ( i.e. do I have to be living in Dallas from Mar. 28 to June 28 2006) ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Sunil

If you have been living in Dallas for the last 10 years, why would you bother about the requirement anyway? However, it seems as though a person would need to establish the 3-month residency period prior to the application date.

Temporary visits anywhere do not matter within the 3 months period prior to filing N-400. This only to make sure that the person actually lives in the area. If you have lived in Dallas for 10 yrs, and have drivers license, bank accounts, house/apartment, etc. that enough proof of residency in the local DO.

What if you are on a temporary assignment abroad for the 3 months, and you closed your apartment. Is it enough to have the bank account/driver licence etc.?
