Query11 - thanks for the info. Very helpful.
You mentioned that:
you can request grouping of applications, when u mail your applications.Uscis will honor your request...
only problem is say your wife gets stuck in name check you appliation will not move till your wie name is cleared....

What is name check? Is it same as background check?

Does name check happen for all applicants?

Namecheck is one of the three background checks conducted by FBI on behalf of USCIS. These days every applicant for an immigration benefit (i.e. I-485, N-400, ...) must be run through the namecheck process.

For most people the results are obtained quickly (weeks), but for some, the process results in lengthy delays (months to years).

sunesh,
let me try to answer some of ur questions,as ur questions are spread across websites...

1) tax, like i said before>>> try to get a copy of ur tax papers from the ppl or accountant who did ur taxes.this is more than sufficient.
2)adress change>> dont worry about anything just file for ur ar11, and forget the rest
3)name check>>right now dont worry about it,mail your application first
4)traffic tickets, just declare them on ur application...drive down to the court house and get a confirmation from them...

apart from this i hope u hae registered for selective services...

and dont forget to include a request with your application for group processing.......

last but not the least personal opinion>>>tax papers and proof for taking care of your tickets is a must.....dont try to predict your interview,be prepared for the interview...

query11 - you mentioned that i should have registered for selective services. I have not done that.
Do I need to do that?

Here is my situation:
I am an Indian Citizen
1. Came to US when i was 21 on F1
2. Converted to H1 when I was 23.5
3. Applied for GC when I was 25
4. Got GC when I was 27
5. I am currently 32.

Do I need to apply for selective service?

NO need ! (if did not have GC before your 26th b'day, no need to apply)

True only if the person held valid non-immigrant visas while in the US prior to their 27th birthday. So, in this case I believe you are correct as F1 and H1 are both non-immigrant categories.

I did not understand that response. If one is a non-immigrant before the 26th birthday but immigrant after the 26th birthday - does he not need to apply for selective service?

What is the rule here? In what cases do we need to apply for selectivfe service?
