By the way of introduction I wanted to check on a case for my brother who is pursuing a masters in US with an STEM OPT Extension.
He has a offer from Company A which will prefile the H1b Petition before completing graduation in June 2022.
He might also get a perspective offer from Company B which will start him on a OPT since the filing period would have closed by then. He cant join any of the companies till July-August 2022.
In case the H1b isn't picked up for Company A it shouldn't be an issue. In case he choose to start with Company B ,what would happen to the H1B petition filed by Company A.
If it is picked up and he choose to abandon that would there be any effect to the OPT.
He wouldn't have legally started working for the firm by then or gotten the H1B stamped.
