Queries about Canadian PR

Hi

Me and my wife are from India and are on H-1 / H-4 respectively. I have an approved I-140 but like thousands of others , I have been unable to file 485 because of retrogression.

We have been thinking of applying for Canadian PR as a backup(although our first preference is the US Green Card).

1. Any advantages/disadvantages of applying for the Canadian PR while waiting to file for 485.

If we decide to file for the Canadian PR I have the following queries.

2. We have a son who is a US citizen , If we understand correctly he also needs to file for the Canadian PR alongwith us. Does this affect his US citizenship in any way ?

3. I have read conflicting discussions/views on the forum regarding sending all the papers (primarily the police clearances) alongwith the application or sending them later. Could someone please advise us on which path to follow ?

4. Regarding the police clearances If I understand correctly we need it from India and US (Since those are the only 2 countries we have lived for more than 6 months after turning 18.)

4a) The India police clearance can be applied for at the Indian embassy . Right ? How long does it take ?

4b) The US police clearance has to be taken from FBI . Right ? How long does it take ?

N/A, since you are doing as backup which means you don't want to go
back to India if for some reason your GC doesn't come true so good bad
its the same

If possibel send police clearance and FBI cleareance and IELTS exam scores at the same time, you will be surprised how fast the application moves

Yes, if you can go up to consulate and appear before them it might take
less otherwise mail is 30-45 days.4b) The US police clearance has to be taken from FBI . Right ? How long does it take ?
Yes, 6-8 weeks
 
Backup and all is fine. But remember that in terms of the job market, Canada is the worst place in the first world to go to.
