Hello Mates,Am planning on registering a friend for DV-2015 who cant qualify educationally but through work experience. This person is a dressmaker for over 15 years in Ghana and has not a strong command over the English language. I checked the o net online and i saw dressmaking over there. So if it happens that this person is selected what are the chances of going through the interview smoothly. Thanks in advance for your insights.

It's not enough to just have the occupation listed in O*Net. The job has to have a certain level, as per their specifications:

To qualify for a Diversity Visa on the basis of your work experience, you must, within the past five years, have two years of experience in an occupation that is designated as Job Zone 4 or 5, classified in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) range of 7.0 or higher.

I don't know where Dressmaking falls but it has to be at least Zone 4, and have an SVP of 7.0 or higher. So check that before applying. Otherwise, it'll be a waste of time and if your friend gets selected, they won't qualify.

According to ONet it's zone 3 and the SVP is 6 to <7, so they won't qualify.

This is the most advanced job I found with dressmaking. It does not reach the minimum standard required - so there is little point in applying. If your friend were somehow able to describe the job differently, it might work, but it is doubtful. Sorry.
