Before you can work as a paramedic in the US you will need a couple of things:
- certification as 'emergency medical technician' at the 'basic' 'intermediate' or 'paramedic' level.
- typically some sort of state licensure
- an assessment of your qualification in the 'visa screen' process (I don't know who the correct authority for EMT's would be, for nurses it is the american college of nursing)
- of course, the appropriate work visa
- a job (I am a doc, so I don't know too much about the EMT job situation. Around here, many of the EMT's are EMT/firefighters. They have a day-job with one of the professional fire departments and drive ambulance during their off-shifts. In other areas of the country that might be different)
