Qs on I-485 Fax Inquiry

Was wondering if I can send a fax inquiry on my own ? My lawyer says that we need to wait 30 days after the JIT was published last.... If I can bypass my lawyer then the questions are:


Any particular format for the fax letter ?
Who at INS to address it to ?
What all info should be provided in the fax ?
Does INS replies by fax or (snail) mail ?
How long before one can expect a reply to an inquiry ?

Hello, you may want to search this forum. There is a thread gave the fax format in PDF file.

However I think your lawyer is right. Since the number 1 standard answer to fax inquiry will be case pending adjudication and please wait until JIT time passed 30 days of your RD.

So my 3 cents is if you do not have lawyer then DIY. If you have one you should follow his/her advice on this one.
