Hello,

My wife and I will be landing in BC by road from Seattle.
Both of us have valid H1 and H4 visas from my previous employer
and new H1 and H4 approval notices from my current employer.
we plan to stay in vancouver for 2 days to apply for a SIN card,
appear for an interview , open a bank account and look for an apaprtment.
Since we will be returing back to the US by road in 2 days:

   1) what should we do to hold on to the I-94s that we have ? I heard that
   sometimes the Canadians take it.

   2) Is there a way the canadian officers can find out about the LC/I-140
application ? since my previous company had applied for 1-140 but that is
   now cancelled.

3)Where is the HRDC office in vancouver to get the SIN # ?

   4) Can I supply a US address on the application ?

   5) While returning do we show the I-94s that we have not submitted
on the way out ? what if the US officers give us a new I-94 based
on the current approval notices ?

   please help with these Qs

   thanks

1- If teh Canadian officer took the I-94 card, there is nothing you can do, you just have to get a new one upon entry, try to keep it out of your passport anyway untill they ask for it.
2- No no for a US address for a SIN, they will expect you to have a Canadian address.
3- When you land in Canada, teh immigration officer will give you hints on where to get your SIN and health card from.
Good luck

We applied for SIN card with our US address and we got it within a month. If they ask you (they didn\'t ask us) you tell them it will take a few months for you to wind off your US and settle in Canada permanently and hence you are having the US address. But the HRDC officers just take your appliction and return you the counterfoil. As far as the I94 is concerned remove it from the passport and keep it seperately. When we returned at the BC border we just showed our passport from the car. The officer asked us whether we have purchased anything from Canada. Then he let us go. If you want HRDC office address at Vancouver I shall give you. I have it in my file.
Wish you good luck.

Hi Rana1982

I have a SIN address at 300 Georgia Street W , is that ok ?
Also did you apply for a health card in BC ?
I plan to open a bank account and am looking at royal bank or
scotia bank...any ideas on that ..
Also get my BC drivers license too and I have one interview scheduled
 over there
then complete my spring quarter in the university and
 move back to canada asap.

So apart from the Permanent resident stamp in your passport,
do you have any US immigration stamp on the passport or I-94
that shows your trip to canada ?

 thanks

That address is wrong I think. Call: 1-800-622-6232. WE went to a HRDC office located near the junction of \'West Hastings\' and \'How\' road. Our passports were stamped and the orginal copy of the landed paper duly signed by the officer was returned. They didn\'t ask us any immigration questions. After immigration we had to go to the custom clearance which is the next building. We were asked to give the list of things we will be bringing along with us with their approx. values. From there we drove to the tourist center and got some maps. Then we went to Vancouver. On Monday we went to the HRDC office and gave the application for SIN card and returned to US.If you are in Seattle and would like to talk to us before going kindly write to me at my email rana8689@hotmail.com and I shall give you my telephone #
