Qs about AP extension ...

My current AP expires on 3/26/2004. I'm planning to visit India around mid Jan 2004 and return around mid Feb 2004. If I apply for my extension right now, will that cause any problem (as I would be travelling while I've applied for my extension) :
a) when I return to US
b) during GC approval

Not a problem at all. Was in the exact situation before and had the AP approved while I was out of the country.

Technically , you cannot travel while renewal AP is in progress because they need a copy of latest I94 when they adjugate and the application becomes invalid if you are travelling. But that said, there have been many instances of it getting approved and few to suggest otherwise.

No need to wait till you come back. You can apply for it right now. The only criteria being you need to travel on the AP that was issued before you left the country.

I vaguely remember a posting in this by BitterMan which quoted some laws with regards to AP processing. I would advise you to speak with your lawyers who you pay to give advise in situations like this.
