Qestion about landing and PR card

I plan to land in Canada the coming month. As many of you guys, I currently work in US and plan to come back to US a couple of days after the landing. Can I be frank about this to the Canadian officer and say I will come back to Canada after a couple of years since the law permits 3 of 5 years outside Canada. The office can't refuse you even if you are going right back to US, can he?

Also I know most people give friend's address to receive the PR card. I don't have any friend in Canada. What can I do? I don't particularly care if get the physical card, as long as I keep valid PR status. Is it possible to keep the PR status without the card, even if that means I need to get a temp card at the local consulate if I want to re-enter Canada?

Thanks for the help!

Gurus, please help if you know the answer!
To summarize
1) Can I tell the Canadian officer during landing that I am going back to US in 3 days and I still have a job in US?
2) Do I have to get a PR card?

for 2), I did a little bit more research on travel document. My current theory is if I don't get the PR card (since I don't have any friend in Canada) and come back to US, I am still a Canadian Permanent Resident. But I need to go to local Canadian consulate to apply for a travel document to go back to Canada. As long as I do this within 3 years frame after landing, it's still fine. Please confirm...

Dont worry too much about all these things man. You have completed all the formalities and successfuly reached this stage. Rest will be ok.
Now, you may not even have to tell that you are going back in 3 days. When you land, they will ask you an address where you are going to stay. I would suggest you find someone staying there (whom you can trust) and get their address. You can tell this to the officer. In case they question more, you can tell that you will come back at so and so time, project completion, family issues etc and they will understand it. Worst case? They will not allow you to get the PR card until you move permanently. Thats OK.

You dont have to get a PR card, if you are not planning to move permanently or immediately. You are still a PR. Atleast thats what I beleive. What you researched is correct. Get a travel doc if you want to go there again and at that time, you may be landing permanently or again tell the same stories. If you want to work, get social assistance etc, you need PR card. Thats up to you.
