I went to Indian Consulate office in NYC renew my Indian passport that is expiring 9months from now. they told me that since the passport was originally issued in Jammu they would need some kind of clearance from India.
I think India has already washed its hands off J&K by giving us different treatment.
Does anyone have any such experience? How long does it take. They told me to call back in 15 days but I am sure that it will much longer than that.
I asked if I need to travel to India meanwhile for emergency, the lady at the counter told me that I can come before 11am and they will ask office to conduct interview . Iam not sure if they will give me new pp at that time or old one back?
I am really disappointed by all this.
