Proposed USCIS Interview: Voice mail on phone??

Hi,

I got a voice mail in my home phone, with a name of a male person. Identifying himself as calling from immigration services, no called ID info, no call back no - yesterday around 10.00 AM.

Msg - stating that they are form the immigration service dept and reviewing my case and would possibly be a interview some time next month ( i guess his next month was september)

Played it again and again - but could not decipher any thing more than this.

I had a info pass on July 2nd, 2007 and the IO took my phone number and email ID. Does USCIS ever call like this and leave VM? OR is this a prank?

OR a IDentity theft ? Has this happened to anyone?

If your Telephone Number is with USCIS, it might be genuine....

Did they transfer your case to local office before ?

Any way they will send you official letter ( location/time, documents need to bring etc )...

have seen messages posted where USCIS called people, verified a few things and then told them that their case was approved - so it happens - not all the time though

sometime they call, if you are available they will veryfiy info , if they satisfied they will approve over the phone.
In your case, may be he could'nt get hold of you on the phone, so he is going to setup interview for you, it is just my guess.

yes they can call you. I recieved it. When I had info pass I asked the officer to call me if she gets more info. Out of nowhere she called me 3 months later stating the Case officer has been assigned to the case and the everything was clear. She said it may take upto 3 weeks to approve the I485 case. 3 days after she called the case was approved.

15 month validity

maybe you've not updated your signature with your most recent FPs, but if they are 13 months old, you still have 2 months more validity on those FPs

FPs

There have been a very few cases reported here where people got approved with expired biometrics (approval notice) but they had to do biometrics before they got the actual card. THe more common process is getting approved if biometrics are not expired.

Again this is from what I have been following on this board...

I have a thread here where I detailed my complete experience with exactly such a call. My call lasted 2mins 14 secs and was approved immediately. Look for posts around Jul 18 if you want to read specifics. My callerID showed a 214 area code.
