Hi Friends,

Recently, USCIS has proposed to change the N-400 application processing
fees from $400 to $800(Not Sure). Where do we get the correct
information regarding the N-400 fees?

I will be posting the N-400 documents on 12/15/2006 and don't want to
send incorrect application fees along with the documents. I checked
http://www.murthy.com and http://www.immigration.com sites and there
is no sign of any changes in current fees $400.

Can we use this thread to inform new applicants, if there are change in fee
structure?

The current fee for the N400 application is $400 ($330 for application and $70 for biometrics). You can write a single check and make it out to Dept of Homeland Security.

I am not sure where you saw this change that stated it's $800 but thank goodness it's not that much.

Yeah, the USCIS thinks that it's a good idea to hike the fees. Imagine $800 for n-400 next year and also be advised that the USCIS have been yearly adjusting the fees to reflect inflation so in 2008, the fee might be $830 or so (just a guess). I'm also not impressed with the nosey questions about traffic tickets and divorces as they really have little to do with immigration.

Until the new fees are offically enacted, you are still entitled to old fees. USCIS will announce any new changes on its web site. In accordance with some news articles, an expected fee hike might be somewhere between $600- $1,000. Most ppl are expecting that the fee would double to $800.

USICS claims that they will make the fee sufficient enough to cover their rising costs. In other words, fee will be where math points them to.....

According to Washington Post, USCIS Director Emilio T. González commented regarding potential fee increases: "American citizenship is priceless. I think people will pay."
