Proof of travel for emergency passport.

Hi All,

I need emergency passport. Which regional passport agencies usually provide in the same day. I have made an appointment for it with the agency. Can I use my hotel reseravation in Montreal Canada. Will that be sufficient proof of travelling. I live in Boston and will drive to Montreal in 4 days after oath.

Hi there!

That should work. The organization for which I work constantly sends group of Americans to Germany. In fact, one group left last Friday. One of the participants did not have a U.S. passport so she scheduled an appointment with the Passport Agency here in Washington, D.C. All she needed to proof the 'emergency' situation to warrant expedited issuance of a passport was a copy of the program for the trip, just a generic word document. They did not ask for any reservations (hotel, airline etc.) at all.

I thought they aren't going to implement the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative until December 31, 2006. Until then you should be able to use your natz. certificate.

She had an appointment in the late afternoon and therefore had to wait until the next morning to pick it up. She got one of the brand new, redesigned U.S. passports. The whole Spiel cost her 165 bucks or so... .
 
Same Day Passport

I believe Bashar is correct, you can travel to Canada on your naturalization certificate, as per this link on the State Department's website:

I applied for an expedited passport at the New Orleans passport agency this morning and will get my passport this afternoon. I believe some of the folks in line had letters from employers' regarding urgent travel, others had proof of travel within 14 days (airline ticket, itinerary, etc). I had an itinerary for travel to Asia next week. The cost for the passport was $157.
