Proof of Filed Taxes

I have my interview next week and the letter didn't mention anything about bringing my tax returns proof. But, i know many folks in this forum have advised to carry them in case. So, my question is :

1) How do i get the proof of tax filed ? My tax agent gave me copy of a tax prepared for each year. But it is like a booklet with lots of pages and it only proves that tax was prepared. Nowhere it shows that tax was filed. Never asked for copy of tax filed and now can't get hold of him.

2) How many years of tax returns should i carry with me?

It is too late to get transcripts now as it takes about 10 days for them to get to you. Well mine did about 3 weeks back.

The Tax preparer by Law has to give you a copy. If it is a personal tax filing look for a form with...

Form 1040 2008

at the top. That will be the return

If you could get the transcripts in time, you can get 10 per phone call.

So after all that, my interview was last week and the IO asked for my GC and DL and that's it and I had a briefcase full of stuff. Don't sweat it unless you have answered the "failed to pay Taxes" NO-checkbox :)
