Project work in univ. in USA

I'm international student pursuing Masters in Computer Engineering. I've to complete 1 year project work for finishing Masters. My GPA is 3.9/4.0. I will be applying for P.Hd. in 2004 ( time when my Masters gets over).

Is there any way that I can apply to the universities in US to complete my project work??? What is the procedure for applying??? What visa will be given to me?(F1/J1)???

Any inputs in this matter will be highly appreciated.

F1 is usually not given for part time student work. Students can come on B1 visa. One should contact the particular program and faculty in the US universities for information.
