Processing Times for I-485 approval after FP

485-Pending

Registered Users (C)
Hi:

I got my FP notice and will be completing the same during the week of December 4, 2000. My I-485 RD is 8/00 and ND is 9/00 (VSC). I have been reading on this board that the I-485 will normally be approved within six months after the FP. However, I am also seeing that VSC is still processing cases from 8/99. Any reason why VSC is sending out the FP notices so early. I dont want to say it, is the processing time for I-485 approval coming down????

I\'m in a similar situation. I recently got fingerprints done. I asked my lawyer the question you asked and they did not know.
I don\'t understand why 9/99 - 6/00 I-485 filers haven\'t received fingerprint notices but some of us with RD/ND after 6/00 have already got our fingerprints done?!!
The current trend was that one could expect GC Approval/RFE/Denial Notice within 6 months of fingerprinting.
I\'m beginning to think that either INS is making some big processing improvement plans (optimist in me!) or that those of us who recently had our fingerprints done may have to do them over in 15months time and keep waiting our turn (2002/2003?!!!! Thats the pessimist in me!)

Any inputs from others?????

Don\'t worry, instead thank your good fortune about it.Nothing is wrong in having got a quick turnaround on your case. I guess INS knows better than all other posters on this board as to what they are doing. Those who haven\'t got the FP notices from Aug/Sep 99 are calling into INS and making comparisons which would only worsen matters for those who have got the FP notices such as you. I "heard" there is a backlog of last years cases (Aug - Oct\'00)which INS is trying to clear and once thats done they will quickly deal with the \'00 cases for whom they have sent FPs in advance. So just keep the spirits up and I\'m sure u will get ur 485 approved in normal time i.e. 3-4 mths after the FP.

Your case may be approved within 6 months way ahead of Oct99-Mar00 cases that have no FP yet.

I read a message from this board that all Oct99-Mar00 cases will be transfered to local INS for processing so VSC may skip these cases and process April 2000 cases right after Sept. 99 is done.
