Processing Time

Please Help. I am a US Citizen married to a Brazilian and we mailed in our apllication(s) for adjustment of status to the NYC office (BCIS) more than 5 weeks ago and have not received a reciept. Is this a normal time? How long does it take to get a receipt? We are very nervous right now.

The NY Office Is famous for losing forms and not sending out receipts, I had submitted a change of address that I mailed via registered mail with a return receipt and that never got processed.

I am not sure of how you sent your application or payment, my suggestion is that you see if your check has been cashed and if it has then you must go to the Federal Plaza building with your receipts etc and find out what has happened to your application.
