hope this helps:
my wife had her green card interview recently. it went well and she
walked out with the stamp (as did i -- my eb application was approved
a couple of months ago).
it turns out, based on what i'm reading on the internet, that it's not
at all uncommon for spouses of eb applicants to be interviewed if the
marriage occured just before the application for adjustment of
status. it appears fairly common for the principal applicant to be
approved, and the beneficiary's application to be transferred to the
local office.
however, the interview itself was unique and didn't match my
expectations at all. for one, we were both separated and asked
similar questions. my wife was asked more detailed questions and spent
a longer time with the interviewer, and she even had to draw a picture
of our house. aside from those questions, the interviewer barely
glanced at all the "proof" of cohabitation and comingling of finances
(he just put all the copies in our file). has anyone had this happen
to them and is there a pattern here? the whole thing took about an
hour.
since we've been happily married for almost two years now, the
interview really wasn't a problem at all, and everything was done
courteously, and when it was over, the interviewer stamped my wife's
passport, and helped me get my stamp also (even though they had
stopped processing people by then), asked to look at our photo albums
(after approving us).
